Great pictures but there's one I have a question about.

I've wondered how artists work out reflections in paintings and the Pink House on Loch Glass is confusing me.

You can see the mountain/hill behind the house goes way above it but in the reflection, it reaches half way up the chimney and then there's sky.

Any ideas why that is?

CBL - if you stood at the water's edge you would see what is on the reflection. You would be more underneath the house so the horizon behind it would be lower down.

I once took a photo of Sarnersee in Switzerland because it was so still; much mre so that that in the photo with the house. I was showing the paper photo to someone at work and he said "You've got it upside down" - he could tell be the reflection. The water was so still that, at first sight, the photo looked totally symmetrical above and below lake level.

TCL the reflection is based on the eye level the picture was taken so it's offset by the height off the ground.

I can't begin to work out how an artist would be able to calculate an accurate reflection if he or she were painting a similar imagined scene.

Thanks for posting these 3Ts. Makes me realise I still have a lot to see in my beautiful country. The last photo is a walk I have taken many times. Edzell is beautiful at this time of year.

Some breath taking scenes there TTT. Bet it isn't like that every morning Douglas. Having had a look we are of the mind that if we could pick two places to have been, at the moment the shots were taken then it would be, in no particular order, Lossiemouth and the Rocks of Solitude Edzell. I was impressed with the night sky shots of the Borealis(again Lossiemouth) and the Milky Way.
