A Plea To Those Living Alone

In the absence of a response to my texts and answerphone messages to an elderly friend who lives alone, I’ve had a bit of a worrying day wondering if she’d had an accident. In fact, I almost called the police. Thankfully she’s just called to say sorry she was gardening and didn’t see my texts or check her answerphone.

If you live alone, please keep in regular contact with someone so they know you’re okay. Just a thought.

Better to take this in the spirit it's clearly intended. Shame it turned into an argument.
//Prudie/LB/Nick, thanks. Actually though, I didn't intend it just for the elderly.//

I didn't suggest you did. I don't consider myself elderly - I'm soon to be 70, the new 50 :)
People can set up a WhatsApp group. We've got one for updates on my uncle who's currently fighting this awful virus.

Nick, sorry. That came across wrong. The second bit of my post wasn't meant for anyone in particular. It was more a little something further to the OP.
Thank you so much, jj. Only just caught up- and that was exactly my point. I am not criticising naomi's post, or suggesting she doesn't have good intentions. Just adding in, that all vulnerable people will not contact everyone they know to reassure them. So, it makes sense to arrange something with anyone you are worried about. I really did not believe that would be such a controversial idea. But, thank you for reading how it was meant x
It’s not difficult, if you know of anyone living alone suggest to them you will contact them on a daily basis , they can suggest a time .

Providing the person who is asking doesn't get into a tizzy when their friend says "All in hand, don't fret".

Disingenuous, pixie, me being a virtue signaller and all.
You noticed the quotation marks. Irony... I have never use that phrase except to others who do... please don't pretend to be daft.
