...I'm told that you respect my privacy the answer is always 'reject all'. And the cycle of getting logged out, trying to log back in, and then being told again that you accept my privacy, is getting a little tedious. Can it be stopped ?

yes, it's a UK law, though other countries have similar.
OK, thanks, TTT. That explains, I guess, when I sometimes click on British newspaper article on here they want me to click on "accept" something or other...I never do.

"My suggestion previously, and still is, to NOT log off."

"Yes but the demand for spying permission comes at the same time or earlier than the login page and sits on top; so logs one out immediately. Try to log in, and it just repeats. It's utterly ridiculous."

"what OG fails to grasp is that before the law change they were storing cookies anyway without his knowledge and he was using AB with less aggravation than now. The only difference is that they now must ask permission. Suddenly OG thinks he's being spied on though nothing has actually changed."

Complete and utter nonsense. Before they stored cookies and I ran a programme that identified and removed spy ones. Now a) that programme doesn't work on tablets b) I'm unsure it's still as good as it was c) very very very very very clearly something has changed. Now we are pestered with demands to accept cookies, and in this case one's option is ignored under certain circumstances and one gets asked every 2 seconds appropriately and maliciously logged out if one denies the demand.

The issue is that some either can't be reading, or are failing to understand, that which I have posted.
I've been clicking Agree since it first came into force.
Never had a problem. You do worry unnecessarily OG. Never had a problem with internet banking either.
Question Author
"sanmac, to stay logged in you must accept cookies. By refusing that he must log in each time"

Again this is complete and utter nonsense as otherwise a) the other less favoured broswer would not find a way to work around the issue, and b) there would not have been periods in the past when the one having issues would have been ok.

Oh I have ladyb. In fact just received an apology and £25 compensation from my bank. But the real problem with Internet banking is the lack of physical evidence of have paid stuff and the reliance on the bank and they're tech to always be right and have our interests a priority. But that's a separate issue.

...having...
OG://Before they stored cookies and I ran a programme that identified and removed spy ones.// - they have stored cookies since 1994// Cookies are generally data to make your life easier, they cannot spy because they do not run //Now a) that programme doesn't work on tablets// - many things change, have you checked your software is up to date? I recommend paying for Norton, that will protect several devices, I've used it for years never had any problems. // b) I'm unsure it's still as good as it was// - I agree software often gets worse, windows 8 for example //c) very very very very very clearly something has changed.// - things change constantly the OS updates almost daily. //Now we are pestered with demands to accept cookies, and in this case one's option is ignored under certain circumstances and one gets asked every 2 seconds appropriately and maliciously logged out if one denies the demand.// - once again you fail to grasp that the major change here is that the government forced the sites to get your permission before writing cookies, if you say no then fine but the function of the site may be such that it keeps asking because it needs to store data in order to carry out the function concerned. OG I'll leave you to your contorted rage after this but I urge you to consider that the purpose of cookies is to help YOU. They only ask permission because the they are law abiding, malicious spyware wont ask permission. Good luck
Question Author
For the umpteenth time you fail to grasp that EU rules about asking permission is well known. There is nothing obligatory about continuous pestering, as many (every ?) other sites prove. I'm unsure that can be explained any clearer.

No site needs to keep asking, it has had it's answer and can therefore limit itself to necessary functional data only.

It has zero to do with being law abiding as otherwise they'd all have to do it, not just here. Why is that so difficult to understand ?
I surrender!
Very simple OG , stop using A/B.
