Emperor Rosko was a bit too 'heavy' for me, Brainiac. What I really wanted, at around the age of 13, was a car and a girlfriend. However I've never really been interested in cars and I hadn't really got into girls at that age. The only reason I wanted to have the two things was so that I could sit in my car, with my girlfriend, on top of the cliffs at Walton-on-the-Naze and join in Johnnie Walker's 'Kiss in the Car' contest (where participants flashed their cars' headlights out to sea, to show how long they'd kept snogging for).
I always wanted one of these car stickers

and many years later (on board a by-then-legal Radio London ship, transmitting off the coast of Clacton) I managed to buy one. I've still got it!

Yup, Brainiac!
. . . and I couldn't really see much difference between most of them! Indeed, some of the other drivers seemed envious when I had to deliver a brand new top-of-the-range Subaru Impreza but I hated the damned thing. (The suspension was rock hard and my neck hurt for a fortnight after driving it). I was much happier driving a 7½-tonner with air brakes and the lovely driving seat that bounces up and down (like coach drivers have). Pure luxury!

Trad Jazz, Temperance seven, Sparks. Glenn Miller and most other big band sounds. I was born in 1950 . My mates and I never competed in the fashion stakes. We just weren't interested. More often wore a Barbour Jacket and Jeans. My father wouldn't allow me to wear jeans until mum persuaded him to let me have a pair for my 16th birthday.
I couldn't afford a leather jacket. I was a 59er and rode a Velocette Thruxton Venom. I reckon I have owned and ridden about thirty different motorcycles in my lifetime.I suppose I would be described as a rocker.
