do you think chicken is chicken no matter where you buy it. It just a guy from gogglebox said you need to pay a good £15 for a chicken to get a good one. Do you agree.

I always buy free range chicken. The cheaper chicken is flabby and insipid. I like to think I'm eating a bird with a bit of muscle because it's walked around and searched for food.
I would pay £15 for one because it would last for four meals for two people.
I notice that all the TV chefs state in their programmes,'Get top quality or prime or organic this that and the other. Ok if the TV company's pay for the ingredients but I have no problem worrying where the Chicken came from as long as it is from an egg. Total snobbery imo.
You get what you’re willing to pay for imo.
My last cost 16 and fed him for 3 meals and me for 7 , i then boiled the bones picked them and made chicken and veg soup

RR - did you get that from your butchers
I like the Marks Oakham ones
I would buy free range but I think the whole organic thing is a bit of a rip off and won't make any difference to the taste
M&S Oakham is a branding name and means nothing
I know its a brand and not a breed

A friend of mine drove the articulated lorries for M&S some time ago and he always said the chickens came from Moypark.

The big chicken from my butchers (you have to order it) is a Capon.
JJ are they still legal? Or do they call something else a capon now? A capon used to be a rooster neutered when it was a chick. The process is now illegal in the UK as its horribly cruel and had a very high death rate during the op.
Question Author
oh ok Woof - I didn't know that so I sure won't be interested or ordering. It was some Xmases ago I heard a girl saying she was getting one for her family, I never heard of it before so that's kaput.
Sainsburys
Shame on all of you
Why ringlet
JJ moy park is a processor for locally reared poultry so there is nothing wrong with M&S get their chicken from there
i reckon about 10 for a decent chicken from sainsburys or waitrose. ringlet are you a vegan...
