After seeing Nadia roast tinned potatoes I decided to do the same, but mine exploded, made a terrible mess of the oven and hardly any spuds left to eat, what did i do wrong? i dried them, rolled them in a little oil and put them in the oven at 200%.

The shortcuts, tinned etc cheats all came from the 'Time to Eat' series.
I really fancy roast spuds now!
I can't be bothered to argue. I don't care how she cooks her potatoes. I have never needed to consult a cookery guru or book to cook a simple spud in anyway you like from boiled,roasted, Dauphinois or Gratin. The last think I want is a major kitchen clean up job so I'll ensure I won't be following her recipes. Thanks Biccylova for the warning. :-)
I’m interested to know if biccy halved or pierced her spuds

Never having had a tinned spud, do they come with skin on?
Normally tinned spuds are peeled, Spath.

I'm going to get off my jacksy and wash and peel some in a bit because Biccylovva has helped me decide on this evening's food.
You can buy them with or without skins but generally it’s without skins
Are they real potatoes or reconstituted? Only had them once as a kid at a friends house and they tasted like minty lumps of congealed powder.

Cooking tips if you must....dry them in a low oven maybe 120 for 15 mins then roll in oil and bump up the heat to 200. Hardly fast food really though.
Real potatoes
I used to use them at work in a pinch...horrid things. The texture seems artificial.
I love them in a curry
I have no idea who Nadia is and I have never roasted a potato n my life but I am fascinated how people can so het up about cooking a humble potato.
The one good thing about them is that they hold their shape in stews and curries.
"can get"
Nadia won the Great British Bake Off.

There are so many ways to cook a lovely spud.
^^^ says the Irish lady. No stereotyping there, then.
Thanks ummmm. Never seen it so did not know who she was.
Potatoes = nice food
Potatoes = alcohol

What else do you need?
BD - I don't watch it either but have seen her on other shows. She also made a cake for the queens birthday or something.
Question Author
Well, I never expected all that, the tinned potatoes did not have skins, I rolled them in olive oil and i did stick a skewer in each one, but since no one seems to know why they blew up I will not be doing it again, I hate cleaning the oven, thanks for all your remarks.
