Can anyone help me identify what this creature is, or suggest who I ought to contact (e.g. Natural History Museum, local council etc.)? I live in London.

p.s. I've seen a previous question like this, and it's not a devil's coach-horse.

sounds like what you have is a European yellow tailed scorpion.
Venomous but not highly dangerous, the old, sick or young would be more vulnerable, its sting is more on par with a bee sting.
Not native in the UK but some often turn up in dockland areas in England, probably come over on ships.
Your local councils pest control officer should be able to identify it and advise you further. Good Luck Tbird+

Thanks. I contacted the NHM, the Amateur Entomolgists Society, and Invertebrate Conservation Society. Had replies from the last two (see my other q) and your identification looks correct.
