The journey yesterday was awful. The traffic on every road we went ont was nose to tail in France and England. We were originally coming back via Cirencester on A417. We got near air ballon pub, we could see about half a mile up the road, everything stationary, we managed to turn round and made it to M48 to Chepstow. Got home 8.00 having left the gite at 9.45. We did stop to do shopping at Auchen in Calais where I stocked up on cheese,
pate and lots of wine boxes!
The tunnel was a nightmare. We were there in plenty of time to get an earlier train but we were just stuck in a queue for over an hour.
But we got home safe and sound but shattered.

I agree Caran - it’s frustrating to not have an explanation
How long without another episode will your husband be willing to wait?

I find now that holidays take so much out of me. I dont know how much longer I can go on.
I am ok with day trips to different places or even an overnight stay somewhere.

Ummm we have the Torquay holiday comimg up. Then I suppose the next thing will be his holiday abroad on his own. He really enjoys the time on his own so I wouldn't be surprised if he did it more.
Does he go with his friends or actually on his own?
I’ve just come back from Budapest. A river cruise. Yea Gods. The traffic everywhere was appalling. I didn’t realise how congested everywhere is with cars lorries etc. Spewing pollution abundantly.
We are getting like rats in a maze. Home and peaceful garden for this disillusioned soul.
Sad really isn't it?
I don’t know ummmm. It was only when we discussed it the other day that he was honest about just how bad it was. He said I literally turned bright blue and stopped breathing.
I'd go by what your GP says. I understand his concern but it might never happen again.
Sounds tiring. Poor yourself a big glass of that wine!
We're going on holiday next Saturday. Only going up to Auchtermuchty in Fife to a self-catering, dog-friendly holiday home. I'm dreading the travel already, having checked on all the road-works in operation. We live in an area to which people come on holiday and it has crossed my mind more than once that we may as well stay at home and designate a week as 'Holiday week' and do all the touristy things.

Part of me plans a trip to France to meet old friends - but another part of me quails at the sheer Hell of the traffic around London. We were once (not long ago) stuck in the car for 2 hours (with excitable dog) on a ferry because the docking machinery wasn't working. So I sympathise with you Caran. Beginning to think that holidays are not worth it. :( Very torn. Would love to revisit friend in Bangkok - but the journey was so long that it hurt and then I got Shingles (obviously from the 'plane air-con.).
Caran, there is no reason why you should not just stay at home rather than go on holiday, be kind to yourself .
i am in my 40s and have always hated holidays and travelling, so i get where you're coming from

I've just told OH I don't want to go on holiday abroad again. He is fine with that. I said if you want to go off on your own two or three times a year I don't mind. He is quite ok about it.
I don't mind just doing an overnight trip to do a booze cruise with a hotel in France for one night. But it's the travelling I can't take any more. I hope I'm ok in this country. We have a holiday for about five days in Torquay at the end of this month.
Is the booze cruise really worth it when you take into account the cost of getting there etc?
