Would it be such a terrible thing to bring back the birch considering the way things are in relation to knife crimes,putting people in prison for knife crimes seems to have no effect in fact they come out worse than they went in,having mixed with other undesirables,some will say we are putting the clock back,but surely something has to be done now.

It won't make a scrap of difference , for one important reason . NO ONE EXPECTS EVER TO GET CAUGHT !!
In any case it is impossible ! It is Banned ! under EU Law which takes precidence over UK law ! It is classed as 'Cruel and unusual Punishment !!
Another thing ! some people LOVE being whipped or lashed so much that they have multiple orgasm and ejaculations as they are whipped or lashed !! Saves them having to pay someone to whip them !!

The answer is education.

Teach young people that 'respect' is not the same thing as 'fear', and it has to be earned by action and attitude, not by force and violence.

A lot of these kids will have grown up with the belief that violence equals respect. Or discipline. Thankfully, we have mostly got past that now. More violence will obviously make things worse.
