Help needed ... a friend has booked to go to USA, he has a drug offence from over 10 years ago for possession of cannabis. On attempting to complete the ESTA its asks about drug offence.

On reading all the advice it says he needs an additional visa. Any suggestions on his best options and what he should do??.
He has a clean DBS, in full time employment and doesn’t have any further offences or involvement with the police
since this offence. This is his only offence.

Follow the instructions - if he doesnt and they find out he will be on the next plane back even if they do issue an ESTA.

Be honest. Even if an ESTA is issued you are warned that you could still be denied entry on arrival. He might have to go to an embassy for an interview and visa
