...and it will be a disaster if he becomes PM. He was one of the Bullingdon Boys who used to hold parties to celebrate the demise of the miners, their communities, their jobs and their industry. Openly celebrating the fact that there would be hardship and unemployment brought upon the miners by the policies of the Tyranical Traitor Thatcher. He is a callous, uncaring, disgusting person. How anyone would want such filth even in politics, never mind as PM, is beyond the imagination. Apart from that, everything's fine thanks.

‘an opportunity to forge different futures’

Indeed. Exciting opportunities to watch the bailiffs taking away their possessions whilst the man of the house, crushed and depressed at losing his pride, turned to alcohol as a comfort.

I firmly believe the miners brought pit closures on themselves through wage demands which made coal economically unviable. But to call what they went through an opportunity to forge a different future is crass and naive.
//crushed and depressed at losing his pride..//

Or-greave perhaps?

Seriously, I'm not old enough to understand the finer points of the Miners Strike but I've seen footage of it...
So better they'd continued with what must have been one of the worst jobs known to man then, Zacs, producing a product the demand for which (at least at UK prices) was declining alarmingly?
That wasn’t an option, NJ. And it wasn’t the point I was making. But I think you know that.
No, Zacs, I'm not suggesting it was an option. What I'm saying is that although they would not recognise it, the closure of the industry did them and their descendants a big favour. Their option was to try and turn what they viewed as a disaster into an opportunity because there was no other option open to them.
You only need to look at his handling of the Bukhari-Ratcliffe case and his racially charged verbal gaffes to see that he is unsuitable for the job.

In fairness to Boris, negotiating her release with the Iranian authorities would be a stiff task for any senior politician.
What he did or didn't do in the past is far less important than what he plans to do for the nation next, if he gets the opportunity. From that understanding/perspective he is considerably less of a disgrace than the other candidates. Apart from that, everything's fine thanks.

True, but a lot of people do not or cannot trust him based on his error prone ways especially at such a crucial time in UK politics.

Personally, I find a lot of the insults hurled at him as petty and narrow minded.

There are plenty of alternatives on the other side of the house that do not bear thinking about....

None of them are currently pitching to become the next leader of the country without facing any public vote, despite having previously criticised such a process when it did involve those 'on the other side of the house', i.e. Gordon Brown.
People say that he is "clever". He ain't. He spouts nonsense and his ideas are an attempt to make him look "big".
He has offered to damage a person in a nasty way - physically that is.
He is selfish and feels that he can do what he wants.

I look forward to his demise.
YEP.
He is almost certainly simply trying to win a bet with David Cameron.

They bet one another to see who could create the worst disaster to the Uk. This was whilst they were in the Bullingdon Club.

David Cameron is winning, by a country mile. But he is now powerless, whilst Boris may have his "finest" hour.

Bear in mind, that is you who is going to pay that "fine".
‘the closure of the industry did them and their descendants a big favour‘

NJ, would you give me a couple of examples to back up your statement?
It meant they no longer had to see their lives shortened or subject to long term injury and disease as a result of working in one of the worst industries going.
That’s not what I asked for. Swapping a shorter life for one with little or no future isn’t a very good deal. I’m sure you can find a few success stories but they’ll be few and far between. The vast majority of communities were devastated.
That's all you're getting because it depends whether you believe early death or long term disability is preferable to anything else. I happen to think not and I'm not going to get bogged down with a matter that took place thirty years ago and which is somewhat off-topic.
Haaaa. It was you who introduced the off topic subject, wasn’t it?
Oh no, I see it wasn’t. But you did see fit to perpetuate it. At length. Stick to ‘law’. You seem to be ok at that (whatever your role is).
