I currently own a 1988 BWM 320i and am thinking of getting a 325i circa 1996/97.

I'm presuming that technology would had moved on, so would the newer 325i be better or worse on fuel economy than my older 320i?

The official mpg for an e36 325 is 31/32 mpg. You can compare it to your own car but I imagine yours will be slightly worse in terms of mpg.

I love the old 3 series (e30), but the problem with the 320i was that it has similar performance to a 318i and similar mpg to a 325i.
