In yesterdays Sunday Times News Review P3 a sentence at the end of an item on Galapagos says 'The locals do not understand why the environment should come first when they have to eat and educate their children'. Which are the edible bits?

Yes, that is an interesting paper. On P26 of the Driving section it states " Numberplates are required under the Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001 to be fixed vertically on the front and rear of the car. The DVLA says it is not aware of any cars that cannot display vertical numberplates" !!!
