Nickname / Boys Name Dilemma

My husband has grown up with the nickname Charlie, which matured to Chaz several years ago. Everyone knows him as that.
We are due to have a baby in 13 days, and boys names are proving difficult.
We both like Ollie and Calum but I especially like Charlie. My hubby is unsure, given his nickname. Do you think it's a no-go or doesn't it matter? I'd be interested in your opinions.

Middle name will be John, Surname Marvin

I don't think it is a no-no because of your husbands name, but I am not sure Charlie Marvin sounds that great..due to the over use of the 'ar' sound. Calum doesn't seem to go either, as the first and last name clash: Calum-Marvin.

This is just my opinion, you understand!

I would think that a one syllable name would be better with the surname. Something like Jack or Rhys (just as an example). I love the name Kit for a boy..short for Christopher, but is now a name in it's own right. Another I like is Chad.

macari...my wee boy is called Charlie (not Charles) and I absolutely adore the name, and don't really mind if he becomes Chaz eventually (or Che, as is often the case where I grew up). I kind of agree a bit with Pippa re the double "ar" sound in the names, but I think the fact that his name would end in an "ie" sound helps break it up a little.
Ollie was our second choice boys name, and I still really love that name too, and I've always liked the name Calum, so from my pov, I think all your choices are fab! :o))
Rest assured, whatever one you pick, by the time your wee munchkin is a few weeks old, you'll be unable to imagine him being called anything but the one you chose.

What about a name that can't be shortened, or different ones, like Ethan or James or Matthew.

If you're struggling for names, then an easy way to find them is looking at the credits of TV programmes.

My first child was called Lucas. We had the problem that our surname was Hart, so we coulnd't have anything starting with an F!

My kids have mates called Charlie and they haven't shortened them .
My youngest is called Jareth nickname is Jazz ,eldest is Joel nickname Jozz :o)
