Does anyone know how to keep the 'eco' button on? I've put it on and held it for 4 seconds, like it says in the manual, but it keeps switching itself off when I'm not looking. Thank you

when the eco buttonis not illuminated the boiler will be in pre-heat mode which will reduce the time taken to produce hot water at the tap i have the same boiler and my eco button is never illuminated hope this helps

Thanks Kath, I would like my 'eco' button to stay on though, as the plumber says this'll save me money.

Sounds to me as if you may have a faulty switch/button. If the manual says hold it for 4s and you do and you are sure the eco doesn't stay on, then either it isn't supposed to (maybe it goes off if the boiler isn't heating or something ? Or more likely there's a fault.

Thanks OG :-). I don't have the heating on at the mo. The Eco button is supposed to save money even if you're just heating the water, but I'm beginning to wonder if it'll stay on properly if I put the heating on as well. Thanks again OG.
Yes, I have to agree with OG there. Marijn. I've read the manual, and there's nothing to suggest having to repeatedly push the ECO button to keep it on.

Maybe a switch fault, or worse... a circuit board fault. I'd be more inclined to think it is a board fault though. I'm guessing that after you've turned on a tap, it goes back into non-ECO mode of its own accord.

Various little thyristors and sensors may also have an effect. They're cheap to replace.

Boilers are complicated enough these days. Adding "features" is welcome of course, but, as they say in the motor trade........ "it's something else to go wrong"

They're a good Company. Well worth a phone call for advice.........

I have a Worcester Bosch boiler with this facility. I've never known the Eco button to disengage itself. I usually keep mine on most of the time (so as not to pre-heat water) but occasionally turn it off perhaps when I have guests. I reckon there is a fault with yours.

Hello Builder, thanks for answering, it's much appreciated. The Eco button stays on for 24 hours or more, so it's not when I turn the tap on. I don't know what's triggering it to switch itself off. I will phone them on Monday. (I asked Sqad and Ummmm to help find you, is that how you came here, or did you notice my question?)
Question Author
Thanks, New Judge. Does the Eco button stay switched on with your boiler, even if the room heating isn't on (only the water heating is on)?
No, I missed your question originally. I did see the thread with Umm and Sqad etc though.

Sorry I'm not really a boilerguy. I'm sure Worcester will put you right though.
I'd be surprised if Heating has anything to do with it Mar. It's a simple Hot Water feature preventing pre-heating water before use as you know.

Board faults can result in all sorts of anomalies. Mention the 24 hours to them just in case though.

Thank you Builder. Yes, I will phone them. :-)
Yes marijn, my "eco" switch stays on until I switch it off (and vice-versa) regardless of what the other settings are. My boiler is actually a combi boiler so there is no facility to switch on domestic hot water from the boiler itself, but I imagine the principle should be the same.http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/ChatterBank/Question1376085.html

Thanks, New Judge. What is the link at the end of your answer?
It's simple, if you have the water timer on then your eco mode switches off when said timer is on.
*personal settings*
My hot water is on demand ie turn tap and wait til hot waters coming out.
If you have pre-heat ie water comes out the tap warm then your programmer is turned on and eco mode switches off hence green light going off.
