While waiting at a set of traffic lights today I drove on when everyone had finished crossing, not when they had changed. Does anyone know the penalty? I've looked at road traffic offences online and can't find this one. I don't think it comes under 'Failing to ignore a traffic sign.'

Yes it does and yes it is an offence. Remember while your light was at red, the pedestrian's was at green and someone could have walked up and stepped into the road. (I presume you're talking about a pedestrian crossing, here. Are they still called Pelicans?)

thanks catso for the promt reply
What makes you think you have been caught?

This matter is usually dealt with by way of a fixed penalty (60 and three penalty points). The fixed penalty offer will not be available if you have nine or more active points on your licence.

Don't know if I have or haven't. Just wanted to know what the penalty was. Thank for the answers. Serves me right for sneaking out of work early.
Failing to ignore a traffic sign is not an offence. It is ignoring the thing that gets you into bother.
Offence Code TS10 - 3pts 60 (been there, got the points, regrettably).
