Anybody got an suggestion for some yummy bbq food, something a bit different from the usual burgers and sausages !!
Also any recipes for a cold pasta salad/cous cous salad, or any cold sides to go with the meat.

Thanks in advance

...cube some chicken breast, add a splash of olive oil, sprinkle with fajita seasoning, and a squeeze of lime, leave to marinade for an hour or so, thread onto skewers with peppers and red onion wedges.....

I love potato salad with my bbq.....I use half mayo half natural yoghurt and some chopped up spring onions....

make up some couscous as directed on the packet and while your waiting chop up 1 red pepper 1 green pepper and 1 medium sized red onion then when your couscous is ready add the peppers and onion and about 2 tbl spoons of olive oil and mix then put in fridge to chill. its yum
There's a great new range of cous cous packs out by Ainsley Harriet, they only take a few minutes to cook and taste great. The spice sensation is definately the best.
Good alternatives to go on the BBQ are minty lamb chops or spare ribs.
Enjoy!
Get a small pack of minced pork and a slightly larger of minced steak, mix together in a bowl with very finely chopped onion, garlic salt, cayenne pepper and a finely chopped jalapeno (or a few if you like spicy), season to taste, stir in a beaten egg and some sun dried tomato puree then mold onto presoaked wooden skewers. You can make them with minced lamb, fresh mint, garlic and drizzle with honey too. very simple but heavenly off the bbq! I serve the pork and beef ones with a tzazikki dip, nice and summery!
i make chicken marinated in tahini paste(sesame seed paste) and put it on the bbq.
chicken brushed with maple syrup
lamb marinated in natural yoghurt, garam masala, garlic and lemon
pork chops with grain mustard and honey
tiger prawns marinated in lemon juice, olive oil and garlic
scallops-natural

salad:
cous cous with roasted vegetables, olives and red onion
pasta cooked as directed on the packet, add some baby mozzarella and baby tomatoes, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
whole corn cobs directly on the bbq, constantly brushing with melted butter and chopped fresh chilli

potato salad made with spring onions and warm olive oil
how about rosti, potato cakes, bubble and squeak.

skewer kebabs

also sweet skewer kebabs - segments of orange dipped in brown sugar
Vege kebabs for a change.

White fish drizzled in lime and skewered with cherry tomatoes and king prawns

Scallops wrapped in air dried ham. Put a bay leaf between the scallop and the meat.

Pudding - bake a banana per person in foil and serve split open covered with cream, rum and squares of dark choc.

Did this at the weekend and it went down a treat:
Take a whole pork fillet, trim as necessary, marinade overnight in a mixture of
- full-fat Greek yoghurt
- dollop of finest mustard (I used estragon mustard)
- lemon juice, olive oil, finely chopped garlic
- freshly ground pepper, fennel seeds, celery seeds.

You have to be careful that the grill isn't too hot, and turn the meat every few minutes. Salt the fillet towards the end.
Carve into fairly thin slices, season with freshly ground pepper and perhaps a little more salt and enjoy.
Rump Steak & King Prawn on skewers with mushrooms, onions & peppers make dynamite kebabs.

Marinate with a blended olive oil, basil & garlic mix.

TASTY !!!!!!!!!
Portabello mushrooms marinated in olive oil and garlic and then BBQd are nice as a veg. Very tasty. As they are large and very rich tasting you only need one per person.
Try a salad of canned chick peas (drained) and mixed with scallions and chopped tomatoes and dressed with wine vinegar and olive oil. Quick, easy and tasty.
