As long as it's properly secured, as it would be in a car, then I don't see a problem.
From September 18th 2006 a number of new laws come into force concerning childrens restraints in vehicles. From that date, children up to 3 years old must use the correct child restraint in either the front or rear seats of any vehicle. The new rules are slightly different for children between 3 and 12 years old but the only difference concerns some minor exceptions for children travelling in the rear seats. Over 12 years old and adult seat belts must be worn where fitted.

It will also become illegal to use a rearward facing child restraint in a vehicle seat which is protected by a front airbag. This is highly undesirable anyway as, if activated, the airbag would strike the rear of the child seat with considerable force and almost certainly cause injury to the child.
