Just been up the ladder picking some cherries, when a Blackbird landed on the branch I was picking and started chattering at me as if he was objecting to me stealing his dinner. He's still in the tree and it looks like his girlfriend has now joined him for lunch.

Blackys can certainly nag - mine only happy whenthey get worms or the hedgehogs left overs!
Fancy pinching his food. Shame on you. Poor little chap.
Not mown my lawn for a while now, but when I do, my Blackbird, well I think of him as mine, swoops down and hangs around, digging around for grubs on the newly cut grass. The noise of the mower doesn't seem to upset him!
How strange! Just had a very similar experience whilst picking Raspberries. The blackbird gave me a real loud long telling off. Did not stop long as the noise brought the cat over to see what was happening. Even better though, five minutes later the sparrow hawk came and sat on the Ash tree at the edge of the garden. Not another bird in sight for ages after that. Meant I could pick another 2 punnets of rasps in peace.
Blackbirds are very territorial when it comes to food sources, and noisy with it.
