Not a Virgin customer, but if the V6 is a DIGA server, then it is relatively easy. I do this with my Panasonic HDD PVR, which does not have any obvious way of exporting the programme files.

You need to have the box connected to your home network.

You need to have a DIGA-compatible file management programme on your computer, such as Kodi or Twonky. I use Kodi (free download).

You also need VLC (free downlaod) to play the media.

Open the file management/file copy function within Kodi/Twonky.

choose the Virgin box as the source, and your hard drive as the destination. Copy.

Open the copied version on your PC using VLC.

Should work just fine.

Thanks Does that plug into the back of boxes or into TV
You need to have the Virgin box and the PC both on the same local network.

The data passes over the network.
It does not need an HDMI or any other cable.
