Has anyone else got flying ants, it has always made me wonder why they chose a specific day to merge in their hundreds. Does any one know the answer. thanks. X X X :-)
got loads of them here, hate the b***** things! looking over the neighbours gardens they've got loads of them as well, would love to know the answer as to why they all seem to converge in one sweep! HORRIBLE beasties!
looking at past posts it seems as though it's the same time each year. I live in the East Mids and we've had them today. Seems to have started at around 3.30pm this afternoon.
same here, i live in nottingham , started at about 3-4pm , have just been out squashing the rest of them and hosing down the paths & plants, great to see loads of the horrible things have been caught in spiders webs.
Thank you Ethel for that very informative site and to every one else who has posted, I live in Hertfordshire and it was the same time that they merged here between 3-30 to 4pm.
Hi allotment10 I agree with you about the little blighters getting into your hair, along with those dam thunder flies I feel like a loppy dog scratching all day long!......... X X X :-)
Yes, here in Bucks they migrate around July 16th 17th. Every year. The dates never seem to vary and they're a real pain. However, we have lots of swallows and house martins flying around around here at the moment and I take comfort that as soon as most of the little blighters take off into the air, the birds will snatch them up very quickly. Nature rarely seems to waste anything in the food chain !
arent they jsut a pain in the butt?
about the same time here in northamptonshire, out in thir thousands, if you look up theyre all you can see. Literally thousands of the wee beasties!
Horrid, still swarms of them around here today
