I'd never heard this nursey rhyme - apart from the mention of bobbin what has it got to do with textiles? I had to youtube it!

My kids used to love this one - it has a range of hand 'gestures' (can't think of a better word) to accompany it.
I wonder which of these that mother would like to hear in place of the one which offends her so much?

As one who comes from a Mill town and a long line of mill-workers too, this lady needs to behave.

You think AB is bad - Mumsnet is quite another thing altogether.

Off to spark me clogs on t'cobbles.

I know Mamya....I am not a Mum but joined Mumsnet IIRC to get some recipes.....I mean its a jungle in there.......
My children, and now my grandchildren love this rhyme. Some people will complain about anything. By the way, if you're on Mumsnet don't mention Mr Bloom the comments about his cucumber will make your hair curl!
My Daughter was unceremoniously banned for disagreeing with one of the older Mums on there.

We did laugh about it.

Targeted by the few with no sense and little imagination maybe, but we don't have to listen to them.
Dear oh dear!
They don't have to be, we can tell these people to shut up and push off....
Can I start something to get...Mary, Mary....quite contrary.. banned?

I find it really offensive to every Mary and I don't want another generation to have their lives blighted by this dreadful rhyme....

And don't get me started on Auntie Mary...had a canary!

Yours.....Mary ;-)
'Quite contrary'?

On the contrary....
:-)....x
