two strong possibilities are woodworm and deathwatch beetle. but also as its a bathroom they may be whirligig beetle, a form of waterbeetle. if it is the latter, close the window as they come from outside. if the former- look for holes in wooden objects, or decorative things. we once got a plague of woodworm from a set of cinnamon sticks in a pot pourri
Are they tiny little things? About 3mm? If yes they're probably adult carpet beetles - plenty of sites about the little horrors!
Can't help thinking "bedbugs". MOVE

don't think they're the deathwatch/woodworm/whirligig beetle as i've had a look on the net at them, will go and have a look at carpet beetles now, there are quite small, about half the size of a lady-bird. they're not in my bed janetex!! and i can't move as its my mum's house, much as i am trying to get a deposit together... thanks anyway, will let you know x

right had a look, thanks noddy, they most certainly are carpet beetles - YUK YUK YUK!! how gross although they don't seem to cuase many probs, just munch on carpet. i hate killing anything but they will be getting squished from now on. thanks again
Hi becks, glad to help. Just a tip - not suggesting for a moment that you don't clean thoroughly, but give your rooms a real good do with the nozzle thingy on the vac around the edges, & check that there are no tissues under bed, or loo rolls left at the back of cupboards. This was a tip I got from another web site as someone had found them in an old loo roll & sure enough I found a tissue under the bed that had been nibbled when I had this problem. (shame on me for not moving it more often!) Apparently they find soft tissue paper the next best thing to wool/cotton.
Oooh, thank goodness you've identified them, good luck becks. Another tip would be to google for any herbal plant cuttings that might deter them.
