Outlook 2016 - Contacting Server For Information

I am regularly getting a menu box overlaying my Outlook saying Contacting the server for information. It's stubborn and won't go away. Slows me dowwn completely.
Microsoft help says use Alt control delete Task Manager to delete it but that does not work.
Any member familiar with this?

Contacting the e-mail server ? Sounds like a comms set up issue. Perhaps check the help pages of your e-mail service provider ? Perhaps some comms set-up setting needs changing.

i don't think it's a comms problem as it only occurs when I'm using Outlook. Which is quite often.
