my response would have been the same - i do not give a flying fig who wears a poppy or not, and would not even notice
AOG, my response remains the same on these threads every year.

I take my stance from both my own standpoint and that of the RBL.
Actually, I think it's perfectly reasonable to want to know why in a team photo of 16 people, 15 of them are wearing a poppy and 1 isn't.

Forget the fact that it's the bloke with the bushy beard. It'd be strange if it was any of them.
To clarify, I personally don't care if people want to wear a poppy or not - it's entirely up to them. I hate the bullying of TV presenters etc who dare not to wear one.

However if 15 out of 16 people in a highly staged team photo are wearing a bobble hat (for example) surely it wouldn't be unreasonable for people to ask - 'Hold on, why is one of them not wearing a bobble hat? - what's that about?'
How much do these poppies revenue, and where does it go?
bobble hats big and prominent, poppies quite small; you really have to check everyone to spot it.

My mother was a WWII widow and she died 8 years ago aged 94. There must be many millions raised each year, 255 British soldiers died in the Falklands and I hope their widows are well provided for, but who gets the millions left?
//bobble hats big and prominent, poppies quite small; you really have to check everyone to spot it.//

It still begs the question though - why one out of 16?
If anyone involved in staging the photoshoot is going to tell us they just didn't notice, I think they're lying.
Here's one area where the Royal British Legion spend their money.

// my response would have been the same - i do not give a flying fig who wears a poppy or not, and would not even notice //

yeah but no but
you still care a fig about the people they represent
and that they would still defend you in a war
shoot terroristen blah blah blah instead of er you
(they shoot the terroristen so they they (t) dont shoot you)

so you would like the service
but dont give a toss about who gives it ( so long as it is not you)

tell me if I have got this wrong
caring or not about who wears a poppy or not has nothing to do with my feelings on war, and who provides my country's milliatary service
I think they're lying

I don't. I don't think this is like a Vogue cover shoot where every hair is checked. It'll be more like class photos at school where they just tell you to arrange yourself by height, sit up/stand up straight and smile.

It they had noticed, they would simply have photoshopped it in, the work of 30 seconds.
When remembering, it bears remembering that lives were laid down so that people could have the choice of wearing a poppy or not, even in the face of criticism by the trolliest Twitter troll or anyone else who thought their opinion to be the most valuable thought ever.
I still can't find answers to my simple questions; how much is raised in total, how much goes in support, and how much goes into administration?

I find it amazing in this day and age that some folks don't appear to have access to Google and have to ask others to do their research for them.
Thank you naomi.
