OH and I are considering making a big decision regarding our future. Over a meal last weekend we jokingly said we would wait and see if the universe sent us a sign. Does anybody believe in such daft happenings.

I'd do it in a blink of an eye Sam... Being tied to a house and garden, no, stuff that. do it whilst you can. As long as you have the funds and a flat to come back to. Being a slave to material things is not much fun. All the best xx

No I don't. So I will now sign off in this thread.

Hans.
I most definitely do, yes ....
not too sure about 'signs', gut feeling yes.

On the other hand, when I see a little white feather on my garden path, I think it's from a deceased loved one telling me that they've heard me having a natter with them.
There are no signs out there sapelesam - just Klingons, Andorians ... believe me - i travel deep and wide in this universe .

Having said that , there are the Bajorans - they're a deeply spiritual people - you just might get a sign from them - perhaps , just not the type you're looking for

Update for AB'ers who gave advice, good, bad, useful or otherwise. Solicitors are doing their expensive thing, purchaser has provided proof of funds. Purchaser has given us up to 6 months to sort out where we are going. This Thursday we head to Southampton area to find a flat to buy and are visiting two boatyards to talk about our requirements. Everything is happening very quickly, quite scary.

Brilliant Sam. Well done you two. Live the dream x
We sold up after spending 37 years in our home and moved to Scotland. Best thing we ever did. Nowhere near as exciting as your new adventure. x

Thanks Mazie, so much has happened in less than two weeks I just thought a quick update was in order. I'll update again if anything significant occurs.
It moved so quickly for us too Sam. Please keep up posted. x
It's not so very long ago that we believed in anything, before we got educated and now we know everything we believe in nothing, including the gods of the copybook headings....
Oh congratulations. Have a wonderful time!

Thanks woofgang, the wonderful time is some way off, I'm staring at the to do list that is four pages long.
Do you want to do - just think of all the lovely money in the bank, in your house - it's doing nothing - doesn't move - now you can move. Great - keep on moving.

Ease of handling by a retired husband and wife combination was an important consideration.

there you go then, that's a very good sign ... good luck.

jno, when I learned to sail, it took four to crew a 30ft yacht, now, 50 ft cats and 60ft monos can be sailed by a couple. Inmast furling, electric winches and idiot proof electronics make it so much easier.
Wonderful, good luck on your new adventures.x
