When you buy a domain name do you pay a one off fee or do you pay yearly?

Also if you buy a domain name is it garunteed to be yours for as long as you want it?

You pay yearly. I pay around �9.00 per year for a .com name. They remind me at the same time each year and deduct the money from my credit card.

So long as it's registered in your name and you cough up anually it stays yours.
Quicksilver is correct however it depends which name you register as different countires are responsible for allocating names etc. So if you register a co.uk it's done for 2 years not one.

You can of course pay in advance and secure it on a long term basis which generally gives a good discount.

ok thanks guys, it just a bit confusing cause it sound more like your 'renting' the domain if you no what i mean.
I paid a fiver for 2 years for .org.uk

Hi i would like to share my experience with you .I have purchased one domain from the site http://www.9cubehosting.com/ .Here i am paying fee yearly once and i am doing renew my domain yearly once .If i paid for one year means it will guaranteed me to be mine for that one year .
