If anyone can remember TVS (Television South) before it became Meridian, can anyone remember the old fella who had a segment in which he looked at 'country ways', i.e. farming, the canals etc. I would like to know his name?
Incidentally, TVS didn't "become" Meridian as such - TVS lost its licence to broadcast and the new franchise-holders Meridian took on a lot of their old staff including on-screen presenters like Fred Dinenage.
It was definitely Jack Hargreaves. He filmed a segment on the farm we had at the time. Khalid Aziz was a young reporter I seem to remember and has now gone on to great things (trouble is I can't remember what!)
Wasn't Barry Westwood the anchorman, or am I getting thoroughly confused again?
Barry Westwood was anchorman on Day by Day for Southern TV which was replaced by Coast to Coast by TVS anchored by Khalid Aziz which was in turn replaced by Meridian Tonight anchoured by wait for it Fred Dinenage. I remember Jack Hargreaves fondly a TV presenter who didnt shout at the screen or have an oversized ego, who knew his subject and didnt patronize the viewer rest in peace Jack
