Having A Disabled Dog...

I would like to give a small dog a good home, but being part disabled, I wouldn't be able to take it for walks, so would there be dogs needing a home that dont require exercise, I have a garden? Thanks.

If you really want a dog, you could get in touch with the Cinnamon Trust. They are a charity who have volunteer walkers to take dogs whose owners are unable to walk their dog for whatever reason. My daughter walked a dog for an elderly lady who was unable to take her any more.

The Oldies Club specialise in rehoming older dogs, and sometimes have dogs that don't need a lot of exercise. My breed rescue has a twelve year old at present that could manage with a large garden to mooch about in, although he is still quite sprightly and would appreciate a walk occasionally. The problem is that unless its a breed that is particularly long lived, you are not going to have them for very long. My breed can live till they are fifteen or sixteen on average, so a few years left in our old boy although of course he may deteriorate - he is already a bit deaf. It depends if you are willing to take one on that you are prepared to lose at any time.
