So Brice has turned out to be a first class hunter!! He has just brought in the third bird in as many hours!!
So far I have managed to catch and release all three! if I put on a collar and bell will this help the situation - he is a bit of a wanderer and I do worry that the collar may put him in danger (none of my other moggies have collars)
Any advice from fellow slaves gratefully accepted!

My cat also leaps up to try and catch flies- not realising they're the other side of the patio doors!! Ouch lol

Nope my girlies are perfect ladies and have perhaps between them in 10 years caught maybe 5 birds!
This little begger is a different matter - I can only assume it is because he was feral!
It is a lot of dead injured birds :-(

Yes annea and of course I understand its nature but as a responsible owner I have to try and do something!!
Of course if the cats were starving that's a different matter!
I would try the collar, good luck.
Even more annoying we have a neighbour's cat who treats the garden as her home (assuming it's female by the size of her) she goes after anything that moves, squirrels, pigeons, birds. Jumps up at the bird feeder and almost caught a woodpecker - fortunately missed. She poops and pees all over the place too. She's very pretty, but won't let us anywhere near us to have a look at her collar. Any suggestion as to what might stop her from fouling the garden? Rant over!

Margo as you obviously like wildlife you want something that won't upset the cat or the wildlife that visits your garden.
How about fresh citrus peel? Just save your peelings and scatter it around - cats do not like citrus.
Islay thanks I'll try that. Yes I do love wildlife and want the birds to keep coming to the garden, although she could have as many squirrels as she likes! Although I've had a moan about her she really is lovely little cat, I don't think she's very old so maybe she'll grow out of it. Thanks for the advice.
