Drinking lots and lots of water helps me. The slightest sign of dehydration sets of a migraine.
my mother suffers from terrible migrains she went to a hospital that specializes in headaches.. she now has to change her whole diet as certain foods provoke migrains she is also getting a metal plate put in her mouth to stop tention which is also linked to her headaches.
have you tried feverfew? it's completely natural, you can get it in tablet form from herbalists or grow your own (if you've a garden) i used to just pull a leaf off and put it in dry bread (as it tastes a bit strong) worked a treat for me,hope this helps, good luck.
I used to suffer with them every month and be confined to bed for two or three days - plus the extra days where you feel like a wrung out rag. I had flashing lights, facial paralysis and severe vomiting with them, so they were pretty awful. I received treatment from a brilliant Dr of Chinese Herbal Medicine in Brighton and I have NEVER had one since, that was 6 years ago. I would thoroughly recommend this as a complete cure, but ensure you find a reputable practitioner. love and light - Amara xx
I used to have chronic migraines and out of everything I tried I found that Feverfew worked very well for me.
I used to have migraines on a weekly basis until BF recommended I go and see his chiropractor and I have not looked back since. You might not think there's anything wrong with you but with today's day and age where a lot of people work on pcs, sit down a lot etc it does a lot to the muscles and spine. I now go once a month and I haven't had a migraine in 2 years since I started. Yes Chiropractors are expensive but I think it's worth it not having to suffer anymore and paying 25-40 for a visit a month is bearable, spend lots of money on things I shouldn't so why not

thank you all so much for the suggestions

i will give them a try

i always thought cold towel to the neck or forhead but recently heat is better
the best is to run a bath as hot as you can handle it and get in (very slowly i would suggest) then get your head right under with just your nose and mouth out
stay like that till you can feel your pulse in your ears then slowly slide yourself into a sitting position.
i know it sounds a little involved but it works every time for me.
good luck :~)
aparently a migrane occurs due to the blood vessles in you head tightening restricting blood flow which causes the pain so by heating the head they relax and open releasing the pressure
or thats what i was told
anyway it works for me
