I want to use a digital signature in Microsoft Outlook. I have tried scanning in a signature to my desktop as either a Jpeg or PDF file but can't then drop it into the signature options. Any ideas?

Maybe try changing the format of it?
Are you wanting the signature for just aesthetic reasons, or to actually tell people that it's from you? If it's the latter, then it's entirely useless, and you should sign your emails using GPG.

It is to show that it is from me. i.e. it needs to be my actual signature, not just my name in italics. What is GPG? Thanks
The image will show it's from you, but offers no proof.

With PGP, and the free variety of it, GnuPG (or GPG for short), you can encrypt your email so make sure that no-one else except the recipient can read it. Another function it offers is to be able to sign your email digitally, which is totally secure proof that it's from you. It requires your recipient to also have GPG or some other PGP-compatible product, but as long as they do, they can very easily confirm that it's actually from you, and not someone masquerading as you.
