If the question relates to disappearing avatars it's likely that it relates to a domain name server blocking them.

For some strange reason, OpenDNS started blocking content from Gravatar about 2 weeks ago, meaning that anyone using OpenDNS won't see any avatars on this site (unless their browser can pull them up from its cache). Other DNS servers might be doing the same thing. If so, the solution is to switch to a different DNS. Instructions for doing so can be found in my post here:
