who is the author and what is the name of the story - it's about a brid that sings, and the more it sings it keeps losing a drop of blood from its heart until it dies - it sings so that two people in love can be together and in love - in the end the lovers do not stay togeter and the bird dies for nothing

I think it might be one of Oscar Wilde's fairy tales called the Scholar and the Rose, it is a very sad story, where the bird presses it's heart against a rose so the blood stains the rose red, the bird sings all the while and enables the poor scholar to have a gift for the fine lady. She rejects him and so the bird has as you said died for nothing. I seem to remember that even the scholar is flippant about the rejection.
It does sound very much like an Oscar Wilde piece...

My favourite is 'The Happy Prince' ~ makes me tear up every time :o(
its from a book of short stories for children called 'the happy prince and other stories' by oscar wilde. the story about the bird is called 'the nightingale and the rose.'
