I bet these people wish they had used cheques

Would have been the same outcome if the fraudsters only accepted cheques or cash.
Charities receive quite a lot of cheques. It would make a hole in their income if cheques were stopped. If I see an advertisement in my newspaper for donations in time of some emergency, it is easy to pop a cheque into an envelope.
I always donate to charity by cheque.
I use cheques to give to charities and to my son.
As treasurer of a committee, I receive cheques and also pay workmen with them.
I use cheques a lot, for charity quizzes, charity raffle tickets - not putting my credit card number and three digit number through the post, also for gifts. Can't imagine setting up a DD for an annual birthday present and won't send cash through the post.
Why don't charities and quizzers use PayPal?
Cheques should be cleared immediately that the bank feeds the data in and it checks all is above board.

Why do folk regularly ask what you we are still using cheques when the answer is always the same as last time ? It is the only way to get the paper trail and not have to rely on bits in the eather and trust the data accessed stays the same since one last looked. It is the best method and should be the first choice in most personal transactions. But of course that is blatantly obvious.
The bank has no way of knowing that the cheque is all above aboard - that has been the problem. A person may not realise that a cheque has been stolen from their cheque book until he sees the withdrawal on his statement.

I do direct transfer to the account in question and others do the same to me. Haven't seen a cheque for years.
Likewise TTT, even the MWSD do it electronically.

I always use cheques, unless buying something from ebay or a couple of other sites. I won't do on-line banking, in fact I'm going into my bank this afternoon to pay in a cheque.
You send a cheque and the recipient has your bank details, jourdain.
As I have great difficulty getting around I find on-line banking a blessing. All payments can be made from the comfort of my armchair.
I love online banking - I can check my accounts as often as I like and I get text alerts of transactions over £100.
TTT - you must live in a different society to me. As treasurer of a national womens group I take cheques all the time. I do not have any facility to take cards as that would cost us money, and people don't want to carry much cash with them, so the alternative is cheques, which is much better for me - I have a record of each transaction.
helly, the alternative is PayPal.
hc - the ladies I deal with don't understand the internet and wouldn't have a Papal account.
