I'm banking on the Premium Bonds, LB...☺
I would employ a couple of people to do the boring stuff, leaving me free to do the (then very large) garden and other worthwhile hobbies....

Incidentally, and this is just a personal observation, most rich men seem to have miserable wives...is a wife's happiness inversely proportionate to the wealth of her husband?
Rob, I would guess that the miserable wives don't enjoy what the men do to make their money. Melania Trump always looks miserable. I don't think she ever wanted to become First Lady.

I'd have a sanctuary for dogs, the provision being they be old, sick, lonely, disabled, a bit life a hospice,
Too old to put it to good use. Probably just use it as security. If I ever needed the best medical treatment or simply pay to get out of a stressful situation I'd be able to. Unsure I could use it to free me for other things, I could be doing other things right now but can't find enthusiasm.
I'd have put £1.6 million but anyway that's not exactly obscene nor uncommon for income. Yes I'd give a lot to family and friends but there's no doubt I would buy things that would make me happy - my finca in Menorca, a small boat and maybe some cosmetic dentistry and a touch of botox.

divebuddy, no, of course not only rich toffs kill foxes (although a lot of them do), rough and ready scumbags do as well !
Well, if you spent it you wouldn't have it and you would be poor again.
Ok I'd buy each of my children a house and a car. I'd buy myself a house in the country and a car. I'd keep enough money to live comfortably and then give the rest to cancer research
