More chaos in the worlds Airports, as Visa are reissued again. These "executive orders" are becoming an embarrassment to Trump.

Yes Ladybirder....posted twice I'm afraid...clever of you to spot it though...thansk !
robarts judgement is here

http://heavy.com/news/2017/02/james-robart-seattle-judge-black-lives-matter-federal-trump-immigration-muslim-travel-ban-george-bush-nominated-by-executive-order-restraining-order/

and the reason why ( see the judgement ) that Robart made the order nationwide was .... equal protection under the law.

The lawyers had argued ( apparently) that only the applicant states ( washington and Michigan ) should be covered
It is a measure of President Trump's thin skin and personal immaturity that he hits back in such a cavalier way when he feels himself under personal attack - an entirely new experience for him, but one he needs to get used to now he is operating in the real world, and not his empire bubble.

He referred to Meryl Streep as a 'mediocre actress' which is petty, small-minded, and given Ms. Streep's level of professional awards, clearly inaccurate.

Now he refers to a 'so-called judge ...' - it's time his 'people' muzzled this childish need to belittle people who cross him, it's utterly undignified, and it is completely inappropriate for the President to whine and stamp his feet in this way.

This man is the President, - will someone please tell him that he is required to act with levels of dignity and restraint that he neither possesses, or shows any signs soon of acquiring.
Your link doesn't explain the constitutional objections to the presidential order, Peter.
Mr Trump wins either way.

If the ban remains overturned he can point the poeple who voted for him to the left leaning judge and say I did it he stopped it.

// Your link doesn't explain the constitutional objections to the presidential order, Peter.//

it was the nearest I could get ( and is a primary document) - we could call it ipsissima verba iudicis and drive everyone mad

My own view is that he ( the prez that is ) can do in immigration whatever is reasonable - and the counsel for the Prez didnt adduce any reason - besides the president can do what he likes.
oo-er that bit was from a commentator

the appeal court has asked for further arguments to be submitted by tomorrow afternoon which is pretty damn quick for a fed appeal - and implies the first arguments are done and dusted and dont need an appeal.

the difficulty is that the tee vee commentators have no understanding of the law and how it works
( over Brexit (yeah I know not a fed appeal ) the Beeb said - this motion is likely to be passed. what he meant was the "this bill is likely to be enacted" o dear god. he also seemed not to know that clauses in a bill become sections in an Act)

We had this in 1973 - Nixon invoked executive privilege ( executive orders are not judiciable or to be questioned in a court ) and got a beating in court over that one. John Mitchell went to prison over that one but everyone seems to have forgotten

// Mr Trump wins either way.//

Mr trump loses either way - we had this in Brexit where people started swearing at the supreme court for their judgement which was not as some wanted.

the difficulty about Mr Trump saying that the State department officials are rack sarlid behind the govt's case is that everyone knows that if an offical admits that they have advised the prez he is on an absolute loser he will lose HIS job.

and so we have grounds for not believing a word the president says and not believing a word his underlings at the State Department says

this is NOT a win-win situation

but a lead-in to
How can you tell the President of the US of A is lying ?
You can see his lips move

and how can you make treaties or contracts with such a man ?
The Nixon parallel is a good analogy PP.
an ex parte appeal has been turned down apparently

( application to suspend the original fed's TRO ( temp restraining order) was not granted )

fuller arguments to be considered tomorrow by fed appeals

Harriet Harman on Sophy Ridge
" the issue is whether the President has to obey the law"

which is ( like the first cuckoo) the first time I have heard the idea on teevee

Sadpuff, did any of those EO's get overturned by a federal judge, or was there even any cause for any of them to be looked at by a judge?

: 'Don't know Zacs. (don't care either)'

And there, ladies and gentlemen is the proof in my beliefs about the politically illiterate.
President Trump appears to think the Presidential Executive Orders are the equivalent of saying and getting what he wants like he did in his businesses - no need to bother asking anyone else, approval not needed.

If he continues mis-using that privilege in his current scatter-gun thoughtless knee-jerk manner, he might find that Congress (those people who make noise he thinks he can ignore) will take it away from him.

the court site for the appeal
( since they say: it has caused so much interest)
is here

good reading everyone
it looks as tho everyone including Tom Cobbleigh has had a go
