I like to listen to Ken Bruce's Pop Master Quiz in the morning. But I quite often have to switch off before the end due to contestants reading out a list of people they want to say hello to. Sometimes they go on and on for ages. Why can they not keep it brief instead of naming every family member, every friend and every colleague they have ever worked with.

I know, Caran.
Sometimes they say, can I say hello to my wife who's listening in the next room, or to my workmates who I'll see in just a minute.

It makes me laugh a bit.

I've heard them say hello to the cat and dog before now too.
I'm not a great fan of Popmaster anyway but that bit doesn't bother me too much. Most people seem to have got their list written out in front of them, so that they can get through it fairly quickly.

What really annoys me about Radio 2 is the way that nocturnal listeners (like me) are being side-lined. First they changed the 3am to 5am slot so that, instead of live presenters, we got stuck with repeats of programmes transmitted during the previous week. At least we were left with their very best presenter, Alex Lester, sharing the midnight to 2am slot with Janice Long but, as from the end of this month. their programmes are being scrapped too. So there will only be repeats from midnight to 5am durring the week (and from midnight to 6am at weekends).

The BBC seem not to have realised that, for many, Radio 2 isn't just about hearing music. It's a 'point of contact' for insomniacs, lonely people and many others who like to feel that they can interact with the presenters (even if they actually choose not to do so). If there are only going to be recorded programmes transmitted during the night hours listeners might as well listen to their CDs and MP3s.

If the BBC paid more sensible fees to the likes of Chris Evans and Steve Wright they'd have enough money left to provide proper night-time broadcasting.

I agree Chris. Back in the day of getting up for work I used to enjoy Sarah Kennedy. I also remember listening to Alex Lester. He is a good broadcaster.
Alex is very good but going back to when God was a lad what about the late great Ray Moore. Remember the Bog Eyed Jog.
Question Author
I loved Ray Moore, I certainly remember the BogEyed Jog.
I also liked Johnny Walker.
Question Author
Also Ray Moore singing My Father had a Rabbit. Was another good one.
try this

Keith Skues does a slot from 10pm Sunday nights for 3 hours on BBC local radio eastern counties, he plays stuff that more mature listeners seem to like. As he has been in broardcasting since before the watery wireless days he must be doing something right.
