Is it possible to use another computer to download Windows XP Service Pack 3 to a CD so that i can then then put it into my computer? If so, any idea of where, and how i can get it?

Burn to a disc.

Transfer the disc to the other computer.

Double-click on the file to run it directly from the disc.

Sorry for sounding stupid but what type of CD should i use. I have DVD-R and DVD+RW, also CD-R. Which one would be best to use. Thanks
A CD can hold up to 700Mb and the download is only 318Mb, so a CD-R disc would be fine. (It's also the type of disc which is most likely to be recognised by the drives in both machines).

Thanks Buenchico, I think i will take a rest and resume with CD-R first thing in the morning. It is slow going when you are not up to speed like myself and that is why i and others are indebted to your expertise. Happy new year.
