/// A fight broke out in the southern part of Calais camp between more than a hundred Eritrean and Afghan migrant children,' said a spokesman for the prefecture that covers
Calais. ///

Some will say, "nothing unusual in that, children will always have their little squabbles".

But to be serious, if these 'children' are so very vulnerable, why were they the last to leave Calais?

Webbo - it's actually a stupid question.
Given how much stick the Cof E got on here when it was announced they were prepared to walk the talk and put people up then i can't blame others who might do it from keeping quiet. But it's a nonsense to expect people to put them up personally. I doubt many who call for more to be done for homeless Brits actually take vagrants into their homes or people who call for more health spending will send a large cheque off from their own money
Sorry , that was for webbo who is pressing Islay about taking in a migrant himself
Most households do not have the spare time even if they wanted to, or the space.
But she is expecting others to.

\\Naomi what do you think is going to happen to the village because they have taken some immigrants in? Do you think it is going to become infected or unclean in some manner? //

That was about the church of England. Nothing to do with Joe the public taking them in.
fiction-factory, //But it's a nonsense to expect people to put them up personally. //

My thread is about people putting them up personally - it's about fostering.
Thanks for quoting me again naomi but I don't know what you mean- this isn't your thread and besides, I said I was referring to webbo's point (not anything you had said)
I was referring to Webbo's point too. He posted a link to my fostering thread at 13:37.
Same point applies, whether it's fostering a migrant child or taking in adult refugees/migrants. Some people may want to see these people helped by society/social services, charities or government agencies but just can't do it personally
fiction-factory, Of course - but I'd be willing to bet that some who make the most noise do have it in their power to help, but aren't quite as altruistic as they like others to think they are.
Amazing how some of these children can grow beards.
