The same week that Mr Yousaf was extolling the idea that Britain is a proto-Nazi state and Pakistan a potential safe-haven, the Pakistani authorities saw the latest round of the interminable and unforgivable saga of Asia Bibi. This is the woman who has been on death-row in Pakistan for no crime other than the crime of being a Christian. Bibi has been awaiting execution for five years, purely because a neighbour claimed that Bibi had insulted Mohammed during an argument.

They attack the Conservative government of the UK for Nazism while not merely praising, but lauding as a safe haven, a state which actually persecutes and murders people because of their religion.

Which means that he is doing what many other people today are doing, which is knowingly to cover for a racist despotism, so long as it is despotism with an Islamic face.

Naomi - “... I think it goes even deeper than that. V_E asks //There is an asymmetry between the sympathy given to the latter groups (on AB and elsewhere) and that given to the Asia Bibis, don't you think?//. Yes, I do think, but that isn’t solely as a result of ignorance and apathy. There also appears to exist a dogged and very deliberate determination to ignore and to dismiss the many unsavoury facets of a vile religion that espouses a backward philosophy that, to the civilised world, should not only be utterly unacceptable, but utterly unthinkable. A plethora of dismissive and supportive western apologists (it's the thing to do, don't ya know?), is the most powerful weapon that Islam has over the non-Muslim population...”

I concur. The non-muslim apologists for Islam are everywhere. Their self imposed ignorance is a threat to society as we know it.

I was recently listening to a video between a rather infamous individual and a 'reporter' about Islam. The 'reporter' admitted that she had not read the Koran nor studied any Islamic scripture whatsoever and yet she was constantly defending Islam and saying that it is, “... just another religion...”. The infamous individual repeatedly informed her that he had read the Koran and other Islamic scripture but to no avail. The 'reporter' simply dismissed his knowledge as being inherently prejudiced, irrelevant and wrong.

This, to me, is the problem: self confessed ignoramuses that pontificate about the whys and wherefores of a religious doctrine that they know absolutely nothing about. They have done no research and they have never read a single piece of Islamic scripture. They know nothing of taqiyya or the concept of abrogation. They do not know that the Koran cannot be read like the Bible insofar as the Bible is written chronologically and the Koran is not (https://goo.gl/xgtGbq). They think that Mohammed is like Jesus – a benevolent, benign preacher. They recoil at the very suggestion that Mohammed was a murderer, a rapist, a torturer, a slave owner (and trader), a paedophile, and a thief. They find the very suggestion offensive even when the proof of each criminal act is faithfully recorded in the very Islamic scriptures they say is the cornerstone of “the religion of peace”.

It won't be nuclear bombs that end civilisation as we know it – it will be ignorance of Islam.

birdie; I have reached the conclusion that most Muslims, including the 'ordinary and moderate' ones and certainly all imams are largely motivated not to Allah, but to demonstrate to each other how devout they are. Do you know the work of the social psychologist, Stanley Milgram?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanley_Milgram

He pioneered work into social obedience, famously with his experiments to see how far unwitting students would go to 'torture' others for research.
There was also an experiment where 9 students were acting and only one didn't know what was happening, coloured cards were held up the colour to be named, with the unwitting student always the last to call. After several clean runs, a red card was held up and the first 9 said "green", as did the last one, not wishing to contradict.

When I see films of fanatically religious Muslims, stabbing the air and beating their chests, when I think of the wanton destruction in the museums of Palmyra and the stoning of women, I see it as virtue signalling by the mob of how to publicly demonstrate what good Muslim you are to your cohort, and the setting of fatwas by a moronic uneducated imam, as in the above link of Naomi's, done not for the sake of 'Allah', but as a fascistic demonstration of what I wise and powerful leader he is.
Humanities worst, most powerful, dangerous and destructive enemies lie within in the forms of arbitrary beliefs and preferred delusions.

All beliefs are arbitrary.
Khandro at 16:00. I think you're way off course there - this is Islam we're talking about - but I'm too tired to put my brain into the appropriate gear at the moment. Maybe tomorrow.
//All beliefs are arbitrary.//

This then must also be an arbitrary belief with no justification in reality, as is -

Isn't a 'belief', it's a deduction. :0)

It's a shame this thread has been side-tracked by rudeness.
Khandro - “... Do you know the work of the social psychologist, Stanley Milgram?”

The name doesn't ring a bell but the details of the electric shock experiment certainly does. The results of this experiment makes for chilling reading. It's not too dissimilar to the infamous Stanford prison experiment, which I'm sure you're familiar with.
