unleaded petrol octane rating

hi im getting a pit bike soon and the guy im buying it off says it takes unleaded petrol preferably with the lowest octane rating. What is the octane rating? I thought unleaded was just unleaded. where do you get it from with a lower octane rating? I havnt a clue!!

In the UK the majority of unleaded is 95. You can buy 98 and some slightly higher. The lowest is the one you use everyday.

As furrycheeky said, most of the unleaded is 95 so as long as you dont use super unleaded such as shell optimax which is 98, you should be fine
