So many old sitcoms are being remade at the moment and I wondered why very few new ones are being commissioned.
I can't think of any situation that hasn't already been done - that could be the reason.

All I can think of is a a cruise ship but that would be very Hi Di Hi. Have you got any ideas?

I'd never thought about that one... I can only think of Soap which reminded us of what has gone on thus far.

Soap had a tinky tonky piano tune, I think

Not a piano :D
Has there ever been a sitcom about a pub landlord, family & staff?
.. . and a rim shot...(Percussion) bedtime for me at that time when it finished.

trt, the marvellous Early Doors. I loved it

Every time I see a reporter doing a piece to camera from a war zone I think of the Stephen Tomlinson character, Damien(?) in D the DD. it was one of the cleverest things ever and they had the sense to stop it before it could become stale. How alone am I in not find Fools and Horses remotely funny? The utterly timeless programmes were the Yes Minister/Prime Minister, if you ignore the dated sets and clothes they are very current!
I loathed most of the sitcoms first time round and certainly won't be watching any remakes! Grrr, what has happened to the creativity of our TV producers? Nothing but remakes, quizes or programmes about food.
They could do It Aint Half Hot Mum From Helmund province.
Does anyone remember The Perils of Pendragon from the early 70s? About a Welsh village. I had moved to Wales as a young man and it made me laugh like a drain. I thought it was a documentary the first time I saw it.
Don't forget we also had some great American sitcoms airing back when, some of them were priceless. Beverley Hillbillies, Bilko, I Love Lucy. Many more I am sure.
I am very much looking forward hearing about Mrs Slocombes Pussy again.
Surely Mikey Mrs Slocombes Pussy would scare the life out of you and your little Willie?

Bilko is my number one. Also, going back to the fifties, can anyone remember I Married Joan?
Benson was a spin-off from Soap [I think]

Anyone remember Different strokes?
Blackadder was the best, I think. Some of them were so old- fashioned, even at the time, I'm not sure they would still work now.
'Love Thy Neighbour', with a Palestinian/Israeli twist.
I think that would go down a storm.
