just heard it on news, they were talking about muslims integrating into germany and merkel now has a massive task on her hands to find a solution to the problem, they talked about the problems that faced france and jaques chirac banning of the burhka etc when he was in charge, german security experts are now saying that they believe isis teams are active in germany asfter coming into the country disquised as refugees , wow really !! .

for me , the fact is that muslims cant intergrate fully with western society, i mean look what they are taught in their koran , such verses here - “Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them. Know that God is with the righteous.” Quran 9:123 also here - Quran 8:59-60 / Quran 2:286 / Quran 3:147 / Quran 8:12 /

“Believers, take neither the Jews nor the Christians for your friends. They are friends with one another…” Quran 5:51

so there you have it in black and white, how to hell can these people fit in with us, i cannot see any solution to the problem.

merkel and co have only added to the problems .

I always thought that 'div' or 'divvy' came from the North-East. When I first started teaching in Newcastle I had to ask my class what it meant. A boy told me that it meant someone thick as when you asked them a question they would reply (Geordie dialect), 'Aa divvent knaa' (I don't know).
Webbo3 / Dave - “... The bible and the quran are pretty much the same...”

NO THEY ARE NOT! And yes, I am shouting.

That's the mistake almost everyone not versed in the Islamic scriptures makes. They assume that Islam, Christianity and Judaism are essentially the same since they are all derived from the same source materials.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Islam is NOT just a religion. It is a totalitarian, antidemocratic, medieval political system wrapped up in violent, intolerant, bloodthirsty religious babble. Political Islam is so intertwined with the religious Islam that they cannot be separated. All muslims know this. They know that their religion requires them to impose Sharia on everyone. They know that the only way to get a first-class ticket to be with Allah is to murder the kafir. They know that lying to the non-muslims (taqiyya) is obligatory if that lie furthers the cause of Islam.

Please educate yourself. Read the Islamic scriptures for yourself. Don't be another 'low-information' commentator like 'Andy-hughes'.

Yep. Div (or Divvy) is an insult in GM. I have no idea where it comes from.
Maybe it was, jd. But it was definitely a word used by the people ( of my generation ) of Wigan and surrounding areas. I hadn't heard it before and thought it must be a local word.
Jackdaw33 - “... 'Aa divvent knaa'...”

Could be. Good call!
Thanks birdie.
Birdie,

\\Webbo3 / Dave - “... The bible and the quran are pretty much the same...”

NO THEY ARE NOT! And yes, I am shouting. //

They are the same, they want people to believe in an imaginary sky fairy.
webbo; I've read the bible and (most of) the Koran and I've not come across any mention 'sky fairies'.
precisely Khandro.

Dave.
birdy1971 - //Andy-hughes - “... on the subject of Islam, I have made no secret of the fact that my knowledge is basic..”

On the subject of Islam, you're a 'low-information commenter' if ever I saw one. //

Agreed – but as I have pointed out before, the Answerbank does not operate an admissions system based on how much you know about what you wish to speak about. It is welcoming to all-comers, experts, professed experts, novices, and people so ignorant they can’t eat with a knife and fork. So lack of knowledge is no bar to expressing an opinion.

//What a balloon you have proven yourself to be. By your own admission, you know nothing of Islam. You clearly know nothing of the concept of scriptural abrogation. Nor do you know of the Islamic concept of taqiyya. You know nothing about Islam, having never read any Islamic texts. You are operating from a point of zero knowledge and yet have the brass neck to tell those of us who are well versed in Islamic scripture that we're wrong. You display an astonishing arrogance. It would be funny if it weren't so serious.

Ah well, you see, I only have your word that ‘those of us who are well versed …’ are in fact well-versed at all! As I have also said before, reading does not necessarily equate with understanding. If you – and I use the generic term, not you personally – wish to come over as an ‘expert’, then you need to be able to back it up, and lofty pronouncements don’t cut it as far as I am concerned, neither does condescending to people who wish to discuss something, but admit they know little if anything about it.

// And you owe Naomi an apology. //

I wouldn’t hold your breath! Last time I apologised to Naomi she was dismissive and offensive – so that is not going to happen. Naomi is perfectly capable of giving as good as she gets, and I have stated preciously that I object to her tone when addressing me, and I decline to debate directly with her as a consequence – one of the other built-in advantages of the Answerbank, I don’t have to be answerable to her, or indeed to you.

Oh, and asking for an apology for someone else, of someone you have referred to as a ‘balloon’ makes you a hypocrite, but unlike you, I am not judgemental, so we can let that one go, no need to apologise.

//How, in good conscience, can you ridicule and attempt to make a mockery of her arguments when you – by your own admission – are operating from a position of ignorance about the Islamic scriptures?//

Perfectly easily. I have no evidence other than Naomi’s willingness to tell me, that she actually knows anything about Islam at all. She is entitled to her view – as am I – but that does not make her right all the time.

I offer my view. I am not trying to pretend my view is backed up by knowledge, but as I have said, knowledge is not required to have an opinion.

If you don’t like mine, please feel free to ignore my posts, but there really is no need to come on here and ask for apologies or decry me, or insult me personally. If you wish to add to the debate, then please go ahead – if you have more of this level of stuff, then save your time.
I am pretty sure that divvy came from the Divis Flats tower block on Belfast's Falls Rd. If you were a bit unpredictable or inclined to be unconventional you earned the sobriquet divi after the way some of the residents were known to behave during the "troubles".
// Div (or Divvy) is an insult in GM. I have no idea where it comes from. //

As a Mancunian myself, I believe that 'divi' originates from the 'dividend', which one received from the co-operative wholesale society, or 'coop', where customers could become in effect, 'shareholders', and collecting one's divi (which was microscopic) became a kind of back-handed insult demonstrating, in a bit of a joke, poverty.

According to the Urban Dictionary 'Div' //originates from prison slang in the UK. A job often given to the lowest inmates was to put cardboard dividers into boxes. Someone given this job was a 'divider' or a 'div'. Now used as an insult to those who display stupidity. //

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=div

naomi; That explanation is as fabricated as a cardboard box.
Khandro, could be. It's just one explanation. I haven't the foggiest.
Naomi - // I haven't the foggiest. //

!!
andy-hughes, what are you talking about now?
Andy-hughes - “... Oh, and asking for an apology for someone else, of someone you have referred to as a ‘balloon’ makes you a hypocrite...”

No it doesn't. You clearly do not understand the meaning of the word 'hypocrite'. I chose my words very carefully. Provide a clear logical proof that me calling you a balloon (in this instance) makes me a hypocrite. I wait with bated breath.

AH - “... I offer my view. I am not trying to pretend my view is backed up by knowledge...”

Translation - “I don't have the faintest idea what I'm talking about.”.

Amazing. You have stated publicly that you don't have a clue about Islam. Your admission that you are an ignoramus on Islamic texts, teachings, meanings and interpretations is appreciated. Thank you.
Wow!

// knowledge is not required to have an opinion. //

I have chisels. Now, all I need is a wall. Preferably near to a South Wales railway track…

(fond remembrances of "Maggie been 'ere", facing the slow section into Swansea*. That lasted easily 20 years…).

* the relevance of this will be lost on anyone who never saw the state of the vista of post-Thatcher Swansea, from the train, before a permanent tidy up was achieved, in a later decade. Prince Charles visited, one year and, apocryphally, they had to erect miles of fake conifers, to hide all the mess from his gaze).
