The games themselves have been wonderful as an event, and the initial scares of the facilities not being up to scratch have been largely put to bed. However i have noticed many venues unless the home country are competing are poorly attended. Will RIO have a huge deficit on the cost of hosting the games. I believe London 2012 was profitable (if the bean counters are to be believed

I would be surprised if they did not lose a whole heap of folding , hosting the games .

Don't forget, this is a country that has sewerage flowing in it's rivers

I am busy at the moment - but i'm sure someone can post a list of the few countries who have hosted the games, that did not lose money
