Would A Tailor, If I Could Find One, 'take In' A Suit?

I bought a suit a few years ago and only ever wore it once. I tried it on the other day and I thought I looked like Stan Laurel might if he was wearing one of Oliver Hardy's.

I suppose it'll depend on how much alteration needs done Sandy.
Bear in mind that the big shouldered pastel coloured numbers that were worn with deck shoes and no socks in Miami Vice days could be too much to ask. :)

It would probably have to be taken apart and re-made, becoming bespoke, Sandy.
It might be more cost effective to buy a new, proper fitting suit.

Yes if you can find one. But as said it may cost nearly as much as buying a new 'off the peg' suit.

Is it your only suit? Wait until you have to go to a wedding or a funeral and buy a new one then.

But your challenge is going to be finding one. I suggest you try googling Tailors and your home town. You are going to need something more than just a place stuck inside a dry cleaners. Up until 10 years ago, there was a fantastic chap near me, who was a real old-fashioned tailor....he even sat crosslegged on the table to work ! I had some sew-in creases put into some trousers and they still look smart today.

But he died at the ripe old age of 89.

I get my suits from charity shops. Never paid more than £10.

I came across this one when I was looking for stuff to go to a charity shop. It probably should have went too. If I ever need another I could buy one ready made that fits.

If you have a Branch anywhere near they are very reasonable, our local branch has won an award.
Obviously as others have said, a new one may be just as cost effective if there is a lot of work to do, especially with the sales on at the moment.
I have been pleased with the work I have had done there.
