You need to install software which allows you to rip cd's. Some are free and can be downloaded off the net, but always check validity of the software before doing that.

I use Easy CD Extractor. Does it in seconds!

I use iTunes to rip CDs (you can download it from the Apple website for free).

I really do like iTunes, because you can do so much with it, and you don't have to own an iPod to use it (as long as you rip your CDs as mp3s and not Apple's proprietry digital format which is AAC (which won't play on many non-Apple mp3 players).

By the way, you can also rip CDs using Windows Media:

To copy an audio CD
Insert your CD into the CD-ROM drive.

Click CD Audio. All tracks are selected if you have not previously copied tracks from the CD. If there are any tracks that you do not want to copy, clear the check box next to that track.

Click Copy Music.
All selected tracks are copied to the Archive folder and are listed in the Media Library.

Note To see or change the location of the Archive folder, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the CD Audio tab.

I use Music Match.

It's a funky little desktop MP3/WAV/CD player you can dl from www.musicmatch.com It's free and you can dl different skins for it to suit your style/mood.

Just insert your CD. Click the Copy button. Choose which tracks you want and click copy. Done.

You can even burn CD's with it too (if you have a CDWriter) and it's just as easy.
