.....as a result of the failed coup....

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-36832071

capital punishment was abolished in 2004 as a step toward turkey's EU membership.

will its reintroduction lead to the suspension of their membership bid, or is it more likely a fudge will be concocted to allow Turkey to have death penalty and EU membership?

Ickeria, is anti Russian.
Think that has something to do with Ukraine. Turkey got his support when it blasted the Russian jet out of the sky over Syria.
Something which mad dog Putin has yet to avenge (Erdogan take note).
AOG,
You have been posting for a decade about Turkey imminently being admitted into the EU, and for a decade I have been telling you t won't happen soon. And I have been right.

// It will be twenty years at the earliest before Turkey is allowed to join. France is opposed to Turkey joining so it might not even happen at all. //
Fri 20th Jul 2007

// Turkey are no where near joining the EU. A realistic timetable is 20 - 30 years. The French are against their membership. //
Wed 18th Feb 2009

// France and Germany are against Turkey's entry, and at the moment there are Accession talks, and the prospect of Turkey joining the EU but it will be 20 years plus at the earliest, that they could join. //
Tue 20th Apr 2010

// It will be 20 years at least before Turkey gains full membership, but it will happen.
Thu 15th Nov 2007

// Turkey will not become a member of the EU for decades (if ever). The EU has a Catholic heart and France, Germany, Spain and Italy are firmly against allowing a muslim country to join. //
Thu 11th Dec 2014

// Turkey will not join the EU within 20 years at the earliest. //
Thu 24th Nov 2011
AOG,
Erdogan has too many enemies. It is only a guess, but I think one of them will get him, probably ISIS. They want to destablise Turkey like happened to Iraq, Libya and Syria - then they rise in the ensuing chaos.
