I am interested in photography and I am trying to decide which digital SLR camera to buy. It will be my first professional camera so I want it to be good quality with potential to buy new lenses etc. Also I don't want to spend a fortune.

Any ideas??

Nikon or Canon, without a doubt.

The Nikon D50, D70 or D70s are good buys, as is the Canon 350D.

If you want dslr quality without lens issues and want to develop your camera skills etc try a Sony DSC R1. 10.3 CMOS sensor, good build quality, great picture quality too. I have one and two other digi cams including the above D50. For general pics I use the Sony and use the D50 with a 600mm lens for sports. just look at the price of a lens and the above comment about fortunes is justified
