Apparently I am, Ladybirder.
Talbot, I wish those women well and success in their campaign , as I say it won't be a quick turnaround but I hope I live to see equality for all.
I didn't take your posts as racist however you do sometimes seem to try to back people into a corner until they answer the point you want answering - to some it can feel intimidating.
Oh...I didn't view as racism either. Saying that I wouldn't view it that way as I know Talbot is not racist.
Not to me Talbot, not intimidating either.
I had Muslims living on both sides last year. Neither of the wives was remotely subservient - one wore a headscarf, the other didn't. I certainly didn't bother asking them if they'd been oppressed lately.

//Can I ask all you 'ooh look at me I'm not the least bit racist me' //
It was this sentence by Talbot which riled me.
I think some people avoid talking out about certain aspects of religions in case they are viewed as racist...
If I were one to get riled (I don't) I would have got riled by the strange post by anneasquith.

These mothers , were allowed to mourn as is the practice of their chosen religion.

Note the word 'allowed' ... can you expand on that please anne?

just another excuse for some abers to "" have a go "" at Muslims. :-(

I see my posts on this thread as anti misogyny.
Very true ummmm.

I have past caring what people think. I know what I am and I know what I am not.
naomi, I too went to a staunch Presbyterian funeral and that was male only....used to be a thing with Primitive Methodists too - also seen it in The Neths with strict Calvanists when you get out into the sticks.
To help alleviate this thread becoming too serious....

A Scotsman was leaving his local caff with his morning coffee when he noticed a most unusual funeral procession approaching the nearby cemetery. A black hearse was followed by a second black hearse about fifty feet behind the first one. Behind the second hearse was a solitary man walking a dog on a leash. Behind him, a short distance back, were about 200 men walking single file.

The man couldn't stand the curiosity.

He respectfully approached the man walking the dog and said: "I am so sorry for your loss, this may be a bad time to disturb you, but I've never seen a funeral like this. Whose funeral is it?" "My wife's." ''What happened to her?" "She yelled at me and my dog attacked and killed her.

"He inquired further, "But who is in the second hearse?" The man answered, "My mother-in-law. She was trying to help my wife when the dog turned on her."

A very poignant and touching moment of brotherhood and silence passed between the two men.

"Can I borrow the dog?" he man replied, "Get in line."
